Dye gardens can be so rewarding – they not only offer beautiful flowers that attract butterflies and bees but allow you to create a diverse dye colour palette from your own backyard or container garden.

Natural dye plants for the most part are very easy to grow but sourcing them and understanding the guidelines are a little more challenging.

During this one and half hour talk, Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston will lead you through the ins and outs of dye gardening. She will discuss:

  • What plants and flowers create good dye colour
  • Where to source seeds and plants
  • Where and how to plant seeds and seedlings
  • How to harvest colour
  • How to dry, store and use dye stuff collected from the garden
  • How to create a simple dye bath
  • How to prepare plants in the fall for the next season
  • Resources to help you along your creative journey

Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston has been developing the FACTS dye garden for several years now and is excited to help you start producing your unique natural dye palette from your very own backyard.
