Have you noticed that Macrame is all the rage again in home decor magazines? Wendy’s Introduction to Macrame Workshop will begin to teach you (or rekindle your talents in) the art of knotting.

During this workshop, Wendy Arblaster of Knots by Wendy, will lead you through all of the information she wished she had known when she began her practice. For instance do you know the difference between rope versus string or where to find resources for materials? Wendy will demonstrate and then instruct you on a series of knots and how they work together to create beautiful patterns, textures and structures.

By the end of the class you will have created your very own driftwood wall hanging and leave with a handout of basic resources developed by Wendy.
Wendy is also a generous artist who makes herself available for questions and concerns following her workshops.

Come and enjoy a social afternoon full of “knotty” creativity where you will learn to “tie one on!”

Wendy lives on a farm in Southwestern Ontario with her partner, two dogs, and the cattle that visit her annually to graze. She has worked for most of her life as a nurse but after a recent blow to the head she lost her ability to follow a knitting pattern and decided to venture into macrame. Knot by knot her creations continued to evolve and grow and she found peace in using her hands for creativity and a sense of purpose. Macrame started as therapy for her and grew into a passion that she is excited to be delving deeper into as her inspiration grows. She and her partner stroll along the beaches of Lake Huron to collect one of a kind beautiful driftwood. Each macrame piece is as unique as the driftwood. She has also started a collection of purses that are lined with whimsical fabric; each one telling a story. She is thrilled to be sharing her work with all of you and her pieces can also be found at Purdy Natural in London and Barn79 in Alvinston, Ontario.
