Ice Dyeing and 2 Socks at Once Combo Special!

What an opportunity! Dye your own sock blank and then knit it up into two socks at the same time so you have a matching set! This one of a kind opportunity is happening the first three weekends in March at FACTS.
On Saturday March 4th learn how to use ice, dye and heat to create variegated wool on a merino super wash sock blank. Choose whatever colours and design you want to experiment with and watch a one of kind pattern appear on your wool. Once unravelled this sock blank will turn into a unique and beautiful variegated ball of yarn.
Then on March 11th and 18th turn your hand dyed yarn into a pair of matching socks as you learn how to knit two socks at once on a circular needle. In this class, taught by Marijke Wagner, you will learn how to create two socks from the toe up. Marijke’s personal pattern creates a two-marled yarn effect, which in turn, creates a beautiful pair of extremely cozy socks that work up quickly. The socks have a white toe and cuff with variegated lines and flecks of colours in between.
To take this intermediate knitting class, participants must confidently know how to knit a sock on double pointed needles and turn a heel.

Participants will need to bring Size US 6, 4.00 mm 40″ circular needles and 4 removable stitch markers in different colours.
Super wash merino wool and nylon yarn provided.

When: Saturdays, March 4th, 11th & 18th 9am to 12pm
