During this 4 week workshop, Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston will walk you through designing, drafting and sewing a skirt that is made just for you. At the end of the session you will not only have learned how to draft a simple skirt, apply a waistband, add pockets and install a zipper, but you will have the instructions to refer to. Basic sewing machine experience is suggested.
Due to current health regulations the class is limited to 4. Masks are mandatory for the duration of the class and sanitation and social distancing measures will be implemented.

Jennifer Triemstra-Johnston holds a BFA in Theatre Production and Design from York University and an MA Fashion from Ryerson University. Since 1995, Jennifer has worked across Ontario as a contract costume designer, creating costumes for over 175 theatre, dance and opera productions.
For the past twenty years, as part-time faculty, Jennifer has taught costume and apparel design and construction classes for various universities including the Ryerson School of Fashion, the Ryerson Theatre School, and York University Theatre and Dance Departments. Her classes have included: costume design, fashion design, pattern making, draping, construction, millinery, corsetry, accessories, specialty building, painting and dyeing.
Currently Jennifer owns and manages two different social enterprises in Blyth Ontario. Pick a Posie Costume Shop is a second-hand costume, vintage and eclectic fashion shop that offers one of a kind pieces as well as custom design services. The Fashion Arts & Creative Textiles Studio (FACTS) is a gallery and creative space that exhibits local textile and fibre artists and offers classes and workshops at both the community and professional level in fibre arts. Besides directing the program, Jennifer’s personal focus at FACTS is dyeing local yarns, fibre and textiles by hand through sustainable processes.
